Shit, I know I won't leash my future black babies (Marquis and LaMontell <3). I will spend quality time with them everyday, teach them about their African roots, and encourage them to pursue their dreams so they won't end up being gangsters and crack whores. My babies will be the next Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama!
I understand some people hate/strongly dislike children. They're loud, whiny, they cry, and they need constant attention. And that's why people who hate kids should just get dogs. Children are a huge responsibility... they practically become your life, and I know this from long conversations about parenting with my mother, and helping babysit my hyperactive cousins when they were younger. My mom raised three boys without any fucking leashes, and people always told her they were amazed at how well behaved we were. Teaching kids how to behave is a process, and it's hard. It requires time, patience, and love... which these sad excuses for parents don't really have. So like I always say: If you can't take the heat, get the fuck out. Period.

For the most part I believe that putting children on leashes is dehumanizing and degrading, but I feel that there are rare instances (and when I say rare, I mean RARE) when leashing a child (with a chest harness, not just around the neck) can prove valuable in keeping a difficult child with a tendency to run away safe. I don't believe that it should be a common practice, but it might prevent another missing child case or tragic accident on the street from occurring because the child is running off. Also, I'm the kind of person that is slightly uncomfortable being around small children, so maybe that's why I don't feel as strongly against leash-children as you do (but that video was horrific to watch). In fact, my own mother considered leashing me when I was little because when we'd go shopping I always managed to run away from her (even though she'd tightly hold onto my hand).
ReplyDeleteThanks for your enlightening perspective! I think what really bothers me is the irresponsibility of some parents when it comes to a young child. They look at a leash and they think Hooray! Problem solved! The leash should be used in very rare cases as you say, and in my opinion they should still also try to help the child be more obedient and less crazy, lol. I'd take them to a playground first so by the time we go shopping they have less energy. But I'm sure lots of parents have thought of leashing their kid one time or snother, especially when their get wild and don't listen to you. Fucking kids... But imagine if my husband ends up being white and people saw us walking around with two black children on leashes! Lol. SCANDALOUS!
ReplyDeleteRight now there is not much good about Obama, reach higher like the next MLK (that is not assassinated) and although I don't want kids, I will either have a surrogate or adopt AMERICAN kids.
ReplyDeleteThese fucks end up with kids cause they just want sex, these kids are accidents that is why they are not treated like kids. Although I believe it is okay to leash a child if you do it to give the child some freedom (Julianne has one), but they should not be used cause you can't be a fucking parent. Leashing children is okay as long as you are watching the child.
I fucking love America but I fucking hate the people.
